Let's decide...

I really like Meg's technology driven idea where students could be in groups of 4-6. They could film a documentary detailing a specific person or event in their local history. Like you said, Meg, that requires a writer, director, cameraman, and at least one actor, maybe more. They would also have to do internet-based research, use a video camera, and potentially learn how to use editing software.

Does anyone have any specific objections to this idea? As I said before, I'd be happy to make up the first draft of our concept map, and email it to everyone prior to posting it so everyone could make suggestions, but I need to know our topic so I can do so. So, let's shoot for a group consensus on our topic by Saturday afternoon at the latest. I agree, Kara, it is stressful to do this online. Hopefully for future group assignments we can try to meet as a group on campus.

  1. That is fine with me. I think we could do Kalamazoo. I do not know a lot about Kalamazoo's history and am interested in learning about it.I am also open to other topics. Kalamazoo is an hour away from me so it wouldnt be a problem for me to drive up there to do some research in their library over the weekend.

  2. I am fine with choosing Kalamazoo as our topic as well. I don't think that we have to do the research on the area so much because our project is writing the lesson plans and project directions. It would be the students doing this lesson in the future that would be actually doing the research. My weekends are pretty tied up through the end of Feb for travel. I coach two robotic teams and help with a third, Saturdays are our long practices and Sunday I teach sunday school.
I started a list of items that will have to be considered for our plan to include in the concept map. We can all add to it by clicking on the edit button, then posting the revised version. That should help with the ideas for the concept map.

    1. So are we doing the live museum or the documentary idea with the writer, directors and actors? I will make a generic map until I find out what the actual topic will be.
